Transition Stroud supporters launched a new section of Stroud Library on 5th July. They have created a display of books relating to climate change and Peak Oil that can be borrowed in the same way as other library books. Helen Royall, who coordinates Transition Stroud cut the
red ribbon opening the new section in the library. She said: "This will be a chance for people to learn more about climate change and Peak Oil - peak oil refers to the point where world oil production peaks and starts to decline. Some experts consider we have reached that point
while others believe it is only a few years away. Certainly current oil prices and forecasts indicate that things are not going to get easier.
However it doesn't all have to be doom and gloom and many of these books and DVDs have positive ways forward that we can start taking now. Indeed the Stroud area is already alive with many exciting projects that will help with the transition to a post carbon world."

Philip Booth, who coordinated the collection of the books for the new section, said: "We have been delighted by the quality of books and DVDs donated. This is the start of developing an important resource for the community that we hope many people will use. Many thanks to all who have donated already and to the Library staff who have been wonderfully
supportive. We would still welcome more books and DVDs on Peak Oil and climate change: do please drop off any possible contributions to the library direct. "

John Marjoram, Mayor of Stroud, dropped in to welcome the new section in the Library: "This is a great way to make this information more accessible to a wider number of people. Well done to those who have put this project together."
