Permaculture – What’s it all about?

    Tutor: Seb Buckton

    Cost: £5

     3171304_orig

What is 'permaculture'?.  If this is a question you've asked, or if permaculture is something you've heard of, but want to know a bit more about, this workshop is for you. Permaculture is about using observations of the natural world to help design efficient and sustainable human systems. The aim of this workshop is to demystify the term, and uncover the fact that many people are permaculturalists without even knowing it.

The next Permaculture Design Course in Stroud (12 weeks / one evening a week) will start in the autumn.  There is a two day Introduction to Permaculture on the weekend of the 28th/29th March at Days Cottage

Seb has been practicing permaculture for 4 years and is a Diploma in Applied Permaculture Design apprentice. He teaches permaculture in and around Stroud.

As part of Stroud Film Festival (13th-29th March), Transition Stroud is screening the powerful feature-length documentary

     Manufactured Landscapes

Events in these series are free - but a donation of £3-5 from those who can afford it will enable us to cover costs and support local Transition projects.

This 90 minute documentary directed by Jennifer Blachwal follows the renowned artist Edward Burtynsky as he makes large-scale photographs in China. Epic and beautiful shots of quarries, recycling yards, factories, mines and dams allow us to mediate on the profound impact of human societies on the planet.

As several council members are away or unavailable next Tuesday June 16th we have reluctantly cancelled this months council meeting. What's more, several of us have been busy working on funding bids and as the outcomes of those are not yet known there are limited updates to be made or formal business to discuss. We will reconvene in July (Wednesday 15th).

    Trashion Show returns to Stroud!

Randwick Hall is booked for yet another Trashion show where we strut the catwalk with our upcycled creations. There will be a catwalk presentation of upcycled and creations from waste materials as good as any Paris fashion house. Refreshments will be available for sale. A great night out all in aid of Transition Stroud.

Do get in touch with me and let me know if you can help on Sat 19th September at all for the Textile group Trashion Show. We need people to sell tickets on the door, help serve and sell refreshments, to have stalls with items for sale or to show how to make something simple. We also need someone to play our choice of music while we strut our items of clothing. Of course if you want to join us on the catrwalk then do let me know.
