Knitted Garden

22042Here’s a message from one of our members…
I would like to create a textile ‘Edible Garden’ which can be rolled up and taken to events to engage people with creativity and thinking of growing food. I still have a knitted Leek from your Xmas stall years ago!

It would need to be planned a bit, with the ‘soil’ perhaps made from rag rugging, and a call for knitted ‘worms’ and soil bugs could be made to schools etc….perhaps. I would need to specify sizes!! It would need a compost bin, bee hive, forks and spades, anything anyone could think of made from any material. I would like to announce it in the local paper, which would help to promote Transition Stroud and then invite people to bring their offerings to the Spring Garden Show in April 2015 as the first event. I hope to have some refreshments to give to those who turn up, but even if no-one does, it will still be worth doing as it is an On-Going Project, not a complete thing. I am hoping it will take off but if it doesn’t then it will just last as long as it lasts. Jane Brown
